Responsible Beverage Service (RBS)

Background

Due to AB1221, which passed in 2021, the training requirements for servers of alcoholic beverage were expanded and renamed to Responsible Beverage Service Training Program (RBS). Any person serving alcohol at any event must be trained in Responsible Beverage Service.

Requirements

UCR Citrus Grove Catering servers are RBS trained.  If UCR Citrus Grove Catering is not servicing your event, a minimum of two (2) representatives from the host department must:

  • Be certified in Responsible Beverage Service

  • Be present at the event

  • Be in control of the service of alcohol at all times

  • Monitoring guests for possible intoxication

  • Be 21 years-old or older

  • Refrain from drinking alcohol during the event

If there is not a certified server available, alcohol may not be served. Alcohol may not be left unattended or be self service.
